Store Manager

THE JOB

As the leader of the retail management team, the Store Manager of a Penn Cycle store is responsible for all store functions associated with running a retail store to achieve sales, service, customer satisfaction, and profitability goals. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop, implement and execute short and long term Retail Strategic Plans and a store vision that supports the achievement of the plan objectives through the management of and delegation to skilled Department Managers, and staff

  • Take responsibility for store’s profitability and work to meet our budgets

  • Monitor inventory levels and adjust down as needed

  • Maintain facilities and other assets

  • Analyze store-level reports and identify new strategies for maximizing results

  • Guide Assistant Managers and Department Managers as you recruit, hire, and develop a diverse and talented team

  • Participate in local organizations and community events

  • Develop top performers and consistently evaluate performance

  • Coach staff and monitor training to grow sales

  • Ensure implementation of visual merchandising standards

  • Performs all of the duties of the Customer Service Specialist as needed

  • Create and enforce a sales culture within the store, including the Penn Cycle selling process, ensuring that service is prompt, knowledgeable, and that customer expectations are met

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of successful retail management experience

  • Collaborative team leadership approach

  • Proven ability to understand and drive store profitability through service

  • Demonstrated ability to set standards and hold team members accountable

  • Dynamic leadership skills with the ability to recruit, hire, train, lead, motivate, retain, and develop future leaders

  • Proven financial acumen to include: budgeting and forecasting sales, gross margin, inventory turns, expense control
    and net profit

Sales Manager

THE JOB

As the Sales Manager, you are a key member of the leadership team; you will lead a team of retail staff to achieve sales and service goals for one or more of the specialty shops within the store. You will be frequently on the sales floor to train, motivate, lead and coach your departmental leads and sales specialists.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Overall responsibility for the store and/or assigned departments

  • Drive store success and profitability by achieving sales, membership, and service goals set by your Store Manager

  • Build and train a capable and talented team of Supervisors and ensure development of the overall store team

Service Manager

THE JOB

The Service Manager / Bicycle Repair Technician has the primary responsibility of operating the store’s service department to maintain high quality service repairs as well as maintaining safety standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitoring the production of shop work to meet customer demand

  • Working with the store manager to build, train and certify a team of bicycle repair technicians and bike assemblers to carry out bicycle repair service

  • Assembling and repairing bicycles and fitness equipment to Penn Cycle and/or vendor standards

  • Assisting Store Manager in evaluating staff needs including hiring, scheduling and evaluating staff performance

  • Maintaining record keeping systems and reviewing management reports

  • Ensuring that all shop employees are trained and certified to the level of work they perform and that all work meets Penn Cycle and vendor quality and safety standards

  • Completing post accident inspections and reporting as needed

  • Acting as liaison between customer, Penn Cycle and the vendor on resolving the highest level repair problems

  • Resolving warranty issues with customers and vendors

  • Researching and reporting significant quality and safety issues to Store Manager

  • Advising of alternatives or solutions before proceeding with work

  • Ordering shop materials, tools, supplies

  • Maintaining equipment and ensuring a clean and safe work environment

REQUIREMENTS

  • Successful completion of Penn Cycle certification within two years of hire

  • Interest in working in an environment that is committed to providing a superior sales and service experience while increasing sales through service

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and develop others, and build a strong shop team

  • Qualified applicants should have at least 3 years bike shop experience or equivalent; previous shop management experience is preferred

  • Interest in developing own skills and knowledge

  • Proven problem-solving ability: effectively identifying, analyzing, following through and resolving issues and a proven ability to show attention to detail

  • Effective communication skills- clear, concise and positive

  • Ability to maintain open and positive relations with employees and customers

Customer Service Specialist

THE JOB

The Customer Service Specialist contributes to the success of Penn Cycle by processing purchase transactions at registers, selling Penn Cycle services to customers, supporting our 100% satisfaction guarantee by processing customer returns, and completing other unique customer service functions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supports customers by responding to product and Penn Cycle service questions, general inquiries and customer feedback

  • Provide customers with product and service information including taking in repairs in our service department and selling related products

  • Processes purchase, service and return transactions at the register in alignment with Penn Cycle’s 100% satisfaction guarantee

  • Collect payment for goods, make change and distribute receipts

  • Identify, research, and resolve customer issues

  • Supports Retail Store Pick-Up (RSPU) by assisting with the receipt of product from truck and processing customer pick-up

  • Performs unique transactions such as special orders, Repair Class sign-ups, and store mail-outs

  • Maintains customer and employee hold area by keeping the area organized and removing items that are beyond the hold dates and calling customers

  • Processes damaged goods according to store policy. This may involve tagging, moving and/or re-pricing the item

  • Informs customers of repair options and completes repair processing

  • Follows document retention and disposal guidelines

  • Maintains and stocks work area

REQUIREMENTS

  • Previous cashiering experience

  • Previous customer service experience (preferred)

  • 10-key skills (preferred)

  • Effective communication skills

  • Ability to adhere to company policies and procedures

Bike Mechanic

THE JOB

The Customer Service Specialist contributes to the success of Penn Cycle by processing purchase transactions at registers, selling Penn Cycle services to customers, supporting our 100% satisfaction guarantee by processing customer returns, and completing other unique customer service functions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • First and foremost to repair bikes to meet the quality and safety standards outlined by vendor and of Penn Cycle

  • Complete work in an efficient manner matching the needs outlined by the service manager and the ability to use our Merchant OS computer system

  • Assemble new bicycles as needed and perform final checks on bikes that have been purchased by customers

  • Properly tag built bikes with product barcode and serial number on a signed/dated hang tag when assembling bikes for stock

  • Working with guests who bring in bikes for service or repair

  • Properly break down cardboard and place in proper holding area for recycling at end of work day and as needed throughout the day

  • Check OTD’s and bike builds for quality of work

  • Help train the new bike assemblers as needed by checking their work.

  • Keep work area clean, safe and free of clutter

  • Report any product defects or DOA bikes to Parts Manager or Service Manager with appropriate description of problem

  • Maintain organization and inventory of assigned tool box. Report any tools in need of replacement to Service Manager

  • Maintain a high standard of conduct and appearance

  • Be a role model for others in the shop

  • Maintain a professional attitude and appearance

  • Follows document retention and disposal guidelines

  • Maintain and stock work area

Employees will be called on from time to time to help out with general customer service needs, shop maintenance and cleaning/stocking duties not outlined above.

THE JOB

The role of Bicycle Builder contributes to the success of Penn Cycle by providing customers with safe, well built product for their cycling enjoyment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • First and foremost to assemble bikes to meet the quality and safety standards outlined by vendors and of Penn Cycle

  • Complete work in an efficient manner matching the needs outlined by the service manager
