2016 Strider Sport 16

Strider's Sport 16 is great for those young riders who are ready to develop their riding skills. This pedal-less balance bike allows your child to straddle the bike with both feet on the ground and easily propel the bike by walking or running. A quick-release seatpost and adjustable handlebars let this sturdy bike comfortably fit kids from six to twelve years old, while the lightweight frame and hand brakes make it a breeze to maneuver. With durable 16-inch wheels, pneumatic tires, and unique footrests that can be added or removed, the Sport 16 is an excellent way for your little ripper to take the next step.

    The front brake is impossible

    By Morgan

    from Martinsburg, WV, United States

    About Me

We watched videos on how to adjust the front brake as there were barely any instructions on how to adjust the brakes included. We screwed it all the way down and it STILL rubbed against the tire. The defective front brake renders the bike pretty much useless which is unfortunate because this is the one and only gift my son has ever been capable of asking for for Christmas. We are so disappointed.

    Perfect for learning and fun

    By Jessie

    About Me

We had our child on a hand-me-down strider at 17 months. He was tall and strangely athletic so was glued to that bike...doing ramps by 2! Being tall, he's outgrown it by 4 yrs old but refuses pedal slows him down ;) We waited a few months hoping he'd decide to pedal but instead he just stopped riding at all. ACK! Here was a 4 yr old that won first place in his first strider cyclocross race who lost intetest in riding at all. We decided not to be "those" parents who pushed what we thought the ideal next steps should be so I hopped online looking for light 16" bikes hoping we could remove pedals. I had NO IDEA Strider made bigger bikes! Needless to say, that bike was being assembled in our house a few days later. (Could use more tips on loosening the brakes online...the video directions did not keep wheel from rubbing but finally fxed it through trial and error).

    About Me

My six year old grandson has some developmental disabilities and his PT recommended the Strider bike. It's going to take him a while to get comfortable on the bike, but were confident he'll learn to ride this wonderful bike.

    Great learning bike!!

    About Me

We bought this bike for our 5 year old after numerous failed attempts to ride a pedal bike first, with and without training wheels. She was getting upset with the learning process, didn't want training wheels anymore, but was also scared of trying her pedal bike without training wheels due to a couple of falls. My 2 year old has the smaller balance bike and she didn't seem to mind playing around on it, so we decided that we would buy her this one to help with the learning process. The Result? Amazing!! She only rode the balance bike 7 times and then got on her pedal bike and took off without fear and without training wheels! Worth every penny to give my daughter such a good experience with learning to ride her bike.

Good, but some room for improvement

    By Granddaddy

    About Me

The one thing that is a problem is the front brake. it kept dragging. I viewed numerous YouTube videos including one using the Strider 16. Figured ok, I know what to do now. Still couldn't get it right. The only way to make the bike ride-able was to loosen the brake to the point that it is now practically useless. The only other options would have been to completely remove the brake, or take it to a bike shop for repairs & pay an arm and a leg for the repairs because they would be unhappy I bought online and not from them. The back brake works fine, so I left it alone. I bought this for my granddaughter. She loves it, and other than the brake issue, overall we are satisfied with the product.

I am really happy with this bike. My daughter has Epilepsy and struggles with her balances. She feels like the other kids on her strider bike because there aren't any training wheels.
